Brutti Compadres - Platos Pequeños
Translated = ugly mates, small plates... 😊
Today I’m reviewing Brutti Compadres, a gem of a place hidden
away in a small courtyard (Virginia Court) in the centre of Merchant City. Unless
you really had any reason to walk through this courtyard, you would never know
this place is here... and that’s why it has this special feel to it. I love it!
The décor of the place is incredible and makes for such a
cool chilled out setting in daytime yet cosy in the evening ….
The menu is extensive (in the best way)… 4 pages of appetizers,
soups, salads, pastas, burgers/sandwiches & piccolo breads, but the small plates are definitely where it’s at:
I visited with my friend Niamh (http://offthechainglasgow.blogspot.co.uk/) and between us we ordered 6 small plates.
Halloumi with Chilli
Speaks for itself… a nice change from halloumi on its own! 😊
Haggis Croquettes in Whiskey Sauce
Haggis bonbons more or less... so tasty & so many of them. Along with a creamy whiskey sauce which was good
for dipping sauces for our other dishes!
Sardine Bruschetta
A questionable choice by me… and one I probably wouldn’t make again, lol. Less sardines would have been more appetising
Angry Prawns
Angry prawns = chilli oil, peaceful prawns= garlic, both = delish
Chicken, Garlic & Preserved Lemons
Wild Mushroom Crostini
Sort of like a pizza... on a tortilla... garlicky, cheesy, mushroom yumminess 😊The bill came to a total of £44, for 6 filling plates in an amazing setting, we loved it. This place is perfect for both daytime & nighttime eating and/or drinking, and there is an amazing space downstairs to hire out! I would highly recommend ♥
